Have you ever had a Terrible day? I mean a Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day? Yeah.. you know the one I am talking about when you wake up late to take the kids to school, possibly take one kid to the wrong school, and then come home to realize you left the dogs out. That is the kind of day that Alexander has learned to accept when he has what is certainly a terrible day in his young life. It begins with gum getting stuck in his hair and just gets worse from there.
When he tells his family about his very bad day, his overly optimistic family pushes his last button by insisting that there really are no bad days. Thinking that maybe it’s just him he then makes a last effort birthday wish for his family to have just one very bad day the results are absolutely hilarious. Everything that could go wrong.. does! Both of his parents over sleep, his brother gets a zit on prom night, and his sister gets a cold the day of her big play ( so much more but I don’t want to spoil it for you!!) Having read the book many, many times I found myself just loving this movie and had a smile on my face when leaving the screening. The cast do a beyond stellar job being both overly happy and having a very bad day. This movie has something for everyone having a family theme that makes it fun for the kids and with humor that the parents will enjoy as well. I took Matthew ( my 12-year-old) to a screening as well and he can’t wait to see it again and has started reading the book ( I know I should’ve had him do that first) but has told me more than once that he knows how Alexander feels.
Alexander and the Horrible, Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is in theaters everywhere on October 10th and you will not want to miss it!
